Another day, another massacre, this one in Wisconsin, as Kathleen Geier noted here yesterday. It’s too early to be sure this is what it looks like: a hate crime against Sikhs. But it’s not too early to experience a shared sense of terror, grief and frustration. Here is some funeral music from Purcell:

    A remarkable rendition (the acoustics of that cloister must be fantastic). Alas, I find it hard to listen to without immediately thinking of the sinister use to which Stanley Kubrick put this piece in *A Clockwork Orange.* Not the association you want to evoke, I trust.
