By Ed Kilgore

Woke up this morning, read about the latest Romney/Ryan “Obama gutted welfare reform” ad, and quickly sought out this Dylan video, which I believe is from the Fort Collins, Colorado performance during the Rolling Thunder Review tour in 1976.

excellent performance, though my favorite is still the acoustic version from, i believe, the bottom line in 1974.
more in sorrow than in anger.

A commenter to the post "Power of a Pure Lie" the other day doubted that the media could run a Romney-is-lying story day after day.

I think the media can, and should, write those stories and little else, as long as Mitt makes it necessary. They pretty much write themselves, so it will be easy for media-folk. Follow this format: Gov. Romney addressed [fill in foreign or domestic issue here] today. Observers immediately pointed out that Gov. Romney is not telling the truth on [x] issue... Gov. Romney stuck by his statements.

Anyone see a pattern? Steve Benen has been trying to keep a list of Mitt's Mendacity--but it's hard to keep up. Seems a good time for the media to start focusing on this pattern--serial lying. Even for a politician, Mitt lies a lot. Why is that?

The welfare one is particularly nasty--and Team Mitt is relying on the media to give him a pass for his lying. Maybe their confidence is misplaced... one hopes.

Bob Dylan wrote that song for my ex-wife!

    You are an idiot, babe
It's a wonder you still know how to breathe

    Appropriate for Ryan/RMoney as well...

When it comes to Dylan, only one man can capture the true essence of this remarkable artist - the King of Comedy himself!

I was hoping Ed would post another Dylan video!

Great video. Any insights into the headgear choices for that performance?
