It’s taking me a few hours to readjust to the Pacific Time Zone after a week-and-a-half in Georgia, and over there in the corner is a television that’s tempting me with Olympics coverage. But I’ll try to stay focused, so here are some midday news morsels:
* New Q-Pac poll of likely voters in FL, OH and PA shows Obama hitting the magic 50% number in all three. That should keep Republican-landslide-in-the-making spinners busy for a few hours.
* Twitter launches “Twitter Political Index” that will seek to reach conclusions about the “pulse” of the presidential election based on “sentiment analysis” of every single Tweet. Sounds like a really bad idea to me.
* Ted Cruz serves the now-ideologically-obligatory Chick-fil-A at victory party.
* Speaking of Texas Republicans, final PPP poll of Senate race showed Rick Perry’s political standing among GOPers took a big hit from Dewhurst campaign.
* Palin accuses Cheney of echoing “lamestream media” criticisms of her record. Go ahead, Sarah, just call him a RINO.
And in non-political news:
* Two words we never expected to see together: “Badminton Scandal.”
Back in a short while.

Rick Perry. The PPP poll shows only a 39% approval for Rick. Interesting, but when he ran for the term before his current one, he also got 39% of the vote.....enough to win the election in Texas' "whoever gets the most votes in a runoff" election process. So it would seem that a solid 60% of Texans have not liked Perry for several years now and certainly his disaster of a presidential run hurt him more among GOPers recently. Just another example of how a relatively small band of crazy folks can rule a much larger majority by simply voting.

So, the Q-Pac poll shows Obama ahead in the three big voter suppression states....

Chick-fil-A has been a guilty pleasure of mine on my occasional trips to the South. I think I've had my last.

As Michelle Beadle said on this morning's NBC Sports coverage: "It just isn't the Olympics until you've had a badminton scandal".

Yeah, isn't it interesting? One wonders how many of those people will show up on Nov 6, only to find out they're not allowed to vote.
"tone. earLead". Wrong thread, dear Craptcha; having the tin (or lead) ear, aka being tone-deaf, refers to R-Money

At what point will Republican billionaires start wondering if they are wasting their money and begin reducing their contrabutions? Twenty million is a lot for even a billionaire to throw down a rat hole. Some of them might decide they can get a better return on their investment.

Sarah and Dick need to settle their differences at 10 paces with hunting rifles. That's what real conservatives would do.

In the crucial Chick-fil-A poll, it definitely appears that the pro Chick / anti gay forces are losing bigtime.
Bidness is down significantly at Chick-fil-A.

Hear, hear, AK Liberal.
Though I hate to politicize my feeding times, I've concluded that everyday will be Sunday in my little world: No Chick-Fil-A... They certainly had a way with a dead chicken and deep fryer.

dick would be at distinct disadvantage. he'd have to hit something he was actually trying to hit.

Hurrah, chik-fil-A is now Official Wingnut Food. Now, if they had hearts, they could die of clogged arteries and become "good Republicans."

It's taken me 3 times to read a crap gotcha which is worse than spam. That is if it works this time. Why is spam getting smarter that it has to make it near impossible to read?
