As we contemplate the post-convention political environment, here’s George Jones performing “The Race Is On” for Canadian television in 1980.

Bramson, where even the backup singers clap on the wrong beat.

I love ol' George! I had the good fortune to catch a tour with him, Conway Twitty, and Vince Gill in Macon, GA. in the mid 90's, shortly before Conway's death.
Funny story-At the beginning of the show, there was a guy in the back of the room yelling "He Stopped Loving Her Today!"-And this was when Vince was on. He kept it up, right through Conway's set, getting a sharp elbow from his wife every time. Needless to say, by the time George came on, he was missing in action.
Another victim of the Devil's Brew!
