Monthly Editor-in-chief Paul Glastris was on C-SPAN this morning, talking about our massive piece on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau:
This is a quintessential Monthly topic. It’s technical, dry, and has little sizzle; it’s mostly about a bunch of bureaucrats starting new jobs here in DC. But it’s enormously important, and John Gravois through grinding work made it into a terrific, interesting read. The CFPB is quite possibly the most significant government effort to deal with the crisis of capitalism revealed in 2008, and its success or failure will speak volumes about our ability to govern ourselves. It might not sell magazines quite like this, but we’re going to stay on the case, by God, because it’s important.
