Wow - hadn't thought of them for years! I grew up in Toronto and had a draft dodger from Detroit in my high school class. He introduced me to many fine bands from the Detroit area , and the proximity meant that many of them toured to Toronto ,MC5 Spirit , Alice Cooper ...and others
Patrick Star on October 11, 2012 9:32 AM:
The wimpy, corporate ass-kissing bands of today could learn a thing or three from the MC5.

You have great taste in music, Ed. Do you like the Dead Kennedys?

I don't know about Ed, but I love me some Dead Kennedys.

Did Iggy and the Stooges make it up Toronto way? Definitely a highlight of that era in Detroit-area rock. Oh, and unless you're thinking of someone else, the band Spirit is pure California. They did some really good stuff, but AFAIK none of the members has a Detroit connection.

MC5 best-ever live band IMHO
