November 13, 2012 5:30 PM Day’s End and Night Watch

By Ed Kilgore

An odd day of waiting for scandal shoes to drop, and distracted partisan spinners to figure out how it affected their spin. Here are some leftovers:

* Don’t look now, but Buffalo News offers first presidential endorsement of 2016 cycle, for HRC.

* Gawker publishes the inevitable chart of the cast of five characters in the Petraeus “Love Pentagon.” Seems there is less than meets the eye the more you read about it.

* WaPo columnist Courtland Milloy goes out to Virginia exurbs to discuss exceptionally pale nature of GOP voting coalition with gunshop owner.

* At Ten Miles Square, Henry Farrell sorts out the different motives in election predictions by pollsters, pundits and hacks.

* At College Guide, Daniel Luzer argues that surival of need-blind admissions policies depends on thriftier college spending.

And in non-political news:

* UFCW strike at California’s Nob Hill/Raley grocery chain ends with agreement after just nine days.

And to be selfish, I can walk to the grocery store again!

Selah.

What do I know, but an FBI agent who thinks the investigation isn't moving fast enough and decides to send his info to a Republican member of Congress, and also send shirtless photos to Jill Kelley and gets to remain anonymous, sounds like it might be a problem.

    Captcha says: and nsasty!

There are things to be concerned about in the Petraeus case. The twins are what, millions of dollars in debt? Who are they working for exactly? There are aspects of this that should have been run to ground before the Republican leaks.

Somebody has way too much money and way too little to do over at the Pentagon (30,000 pages produced; did he get to do any other paperwork?) and at the CIA. How did Petraeus have time for this clandestine affair? Sounds like a real nest of horrors. Not to mention that Petraeus and Allen got involved in Kelley's sister's custody dispute with her ex- who was on Bremer's staff in Iraq....

GOP love ... way worse than any other kind ....

The shirtless FBI guy who was "obsessed" gets to keep his job? Not if he worked for ACORN....And what are all these social functions with Petraeus and the military in Tampa all about? Were both sister-twins hostesses with the mostesses? And you gotta love the connection to Bremer and private investment in Iraq.
