November 28, 2012 1:12 PM Lunch Buffet

By Ed Kilgore

I’m at SFO waiting for a long-delayed flight to MRY (flights before and after mine have already been canceled), and with luck may be home for the afternoon blogging blitz. But here’s what I have in the way of mid-day news morsels:

* Obama-Romney “summit” downgraded to lunch, tomorrow.

* Orszag predicts talk about “solving” revenue problems with limits on “loopholes” will fade once it gets more specific.

* Predictable pseudo-bipartisanship: Fred Thompson proposes “select committee” on Benghazi.

* John Nichols argues filibuster reform needed to restore the tactic to its original historic function.

* Texas climate-change denier Ralph Hall will apparently be succeeded as chairman of House Science Committee with Texas climate-change denier Lamar Smith.

And in non-political news:

* More college athletics musical chairs: Louisville leaves Big East to join ACC after Maryland leaves ACC to join Big Ten.

Back to blogging after the final flight.

Damned impressive productivity for being caged in an airline terminal all morning, Ed! Have a safe flight home and we'll see you when you land ;-)

heard some TeaBagger, Aylotte (sp?) on Andrea Mitchell going on and on about Susan Rice and Bengazi lies. Amazing, really, with the so-called Fiscal Cliff, the terrible job growth and other economic problems...all the GOP can come up with is some fake scandal about Bengazi? Now I understand they are accusing Rice as being part of some cover-up to an attack back in 1998???? I don't think Obama was even president then. These people really are crazy. MItchell said "you mean you are blaming her for something that may have happened 14 years ago?" and the Aylotte just started in again on the "many questions unanswered" meme they've concocted. Fred Thompson??? do you mean the insurance salesman?

Fred Thompson wants to chair the select committee on Benghazi so he can try to interest participants in a reverse mortgage.

  • T2 on November 28, 2012 2:32 PM:

Fred Thompson.....remember back when he was going to be the GOP's savior from having to nominate John McCain for president? Ahhhh.....those were the days.

As for the Obama/Romney lunch, I hope the president serves up some tasty Cheesy Grits.

hells littlest angel, thanks for the laugh!

Who's Fred Thompson and what business is it of his now?

Seriously, who cares what he thinks?

  • Perspecticus on November 28, 2012 2:54 PM:

I really do not understand the purpose of Obama meeting Romney. It's not as if Romney had any previous role in the GOP excepting his 7-year presidential run. He has no current role within the GOP or politics at all. And I don't think anybody is anticipating him having any role in the GOP or politics whatsoever gogin forward. So, what is the point of this meeting?

    T2, @2:09 PM,
That was, probably, Kelly Ayotte, the (R, naturally) Senator from New Hampshire. Now that Lieberman is almost out the door, McCain and Graham have co-opted her as the third arm of the Triangle of the Foreign Affairs Clueless. She sure is prettier than Joe the Lie, but not much more under her hair than he had.

"nnscor appalls". Very much so, indeed.

  • T2 on November 28, 2012 3:42 PM:

@Perspecticus.....Obama meets Romney as a gesture of courtesy. Lunch at the White House. A Presidential courtesy. Something a President can do. Something Romney can't.
