— Hillary Clinton has been hospitalized with a blood clot, stemming from her recent concussion. As Digby notes, the Fox News supergeniuses who a few weeks ago were theorizing that she “faked” the concussion have been strangely silent about this.

— Saying that Newtown was “the worst day of my presidency,” Barack Obama voiced his support for gun law reform today on Meet the Press. Among the measures he favors: “a ban on assault rifles, a ban on high-capacity magazines and a requirement for background checks at gun shows.” Obama believes something will be passed within a year.

— Still no deal on the fiscal cliff. Negotiations resume tomorrow.

— Senator Lindsay Graham has threatened to hold the debt ceiling hostage unless the retirement age for Social Security is raised and various other drastic cuts to social insurance programs are made. Nice!

— Who said family values were dead in the nation’s capital? The Washington Post reports on the widespread practice of family members lobbying their relatives on bills before Congress. Touching, ain’t it?

— The first legal same-sex marriages began in Maine early on Saturday morning. You can watch a moving mini-documentary about those ceremonies here.

— Naomi Wolf is once again alleging that the Occupy crackdowns were driven by the federal government. But as Lawyers, Guns, and Money’s Scott Lemieux argues, there is no real evidence of this.

— Finally, the Washington Monthly’s annual fundraiser continues. Please give if you can, even if it’s only a few bucks. Tomorrow is the last day to make a contribution, and all contributions are tax-deductible. Click here to donate.

With all the talk about what to cut - no-one seems to be talking about the 'bloated' pentagon budget.
Lindsay Graham has morphed from McCains little helper into a nasty human being, how anyone tolerates him is beyond me.
McConnell reached out to Biden for help in making a deal,
I guess you cannot reach out to a president for help after you have literally said your number one priority was to destroy him and bring the country down at the same time!
