December 01, 2012 2:10 PM Grover Norquist’s Fascinating Theory

By Jesse Singal

Grover Norquist, despite what some might construe as recent evidence to the contrary, is nothing if not bullish on the future of his brand of radical anti-tax ideology:

“We are about to have a Tea Party second wave that will dwarf the first wave and that is because while ‘spend too much’ brought the Tea Party into existence, we’re about to walk into ‘spend too much, regulate too much, and tax too much,’ all together. It’s going to be a perfect storm of annoying government behavior, which is devastating to the economy, and I think the small business community which is particularly hit by Obama’s tax increases are going to lead the fight bigger, stronger, tougher than the last Tea Party.”

Yes! And then this will happen.

Relatedly, you should read Tim Noah’s somewhat revisionist account of Norquist’s role in the last two and a half decades of tax fights; Noah takes a rather less impressed view of Norquist’s actual power in the grand scheme of things than do most commentators.

I personally think that any representative that took Grover's pledge and then took the oath of office should be impeached.

    Isn't that cute!

Grover's reciting the fairy tale his Mommy tells him every night, right before tucking him in for beddy-bye.

    Sour dreams, PUNK!

"We are about to have a Tea Party second wave that will dwarf the first wave"

Since the first wave cost republicans 5 senate seats let's hope this second wave does dwarf the first.

    Maybe 10 senate seats?

Big bluffer. He's lost; with the demise of anti-tax sentiment in the very place it first had a toehold (California and Prop. 13) he's being flushed and he doesn't want to know it.

    Grover Norquist is a poopyhead.

  • JEA on December 01, 2012 6:21 PM:

What's Norquist supposed to say? "I'm fading into irrelevance"?

‘spend too much’ brought the Tea Party into existence

Far be it for me to argue with Grover Norquist, but what brought the Tea Party into existences was "black guy too much."

I don't know this tooisblog, but you linked to a guy who posts dreck denying that women are raped! http://toosiblog.tumblr.com/post/35797539933

That's pretty disgusting, honestly. I don't know what kind of rhetorical exercise that's supposed to be.

“We are about to have a Tea Party second wave that will dwarf the first wave "

Considering the "first wave" petered out with about 50 reporters covering a dozen or so white people in lawn chairs at the front of the capital, "dwarfing" shouldn't be much of a problem.
