February 28, 2013 1:39 PM Lunch Buffet

By Ed Kilgore

This feels like a Friday, what with the silliness of much of the news from Washington and Pyongyang. For all I know, many about-to-be-furloughed federal employees could indeed be starting the weekend a bit early. It’s not like they need to be on high alert for legislation in Washington to avoid the whole nightmare.

Here are the lean and slightly undercooked snacks I can offer today:

* Lanny Davis joins the Woodward pity party, says “Me, too! I was threatened, too!” or words to that effect. Ugh.

* New PPP survey show HRC dispatching Ryan or Walker handily in Wisconsin presidential trial heat.

* Roll Call reports House GOPers lining up for appropriations bill incorporating post-sequester funding levels, but giving Pentagon flexibility on where to cut.

* One of America’s great fabulists, Peggy Noonan, has vision of what Marco Rubio should have told Wall Street execs. Maybe next she’ll rewrite a few Mitt Romney speeches and reverse the results of the 2012 elections.

* Former convicted burglar and armed robber appears to have won Republican nomination in Illinois special congressional primary to face Robin Kelly.

And in non-political news:

* West Virginia rated America’s “most miserable” state, with Hawaii rated “happiest” based on quality-of-life criteria.

Back after rounding up some leftovers for lunch.

Reading that article by Peggy Noonan puts in mind of a time in college when I was so drunk I couldn't walk. It made no sense then and she doesn't now. Why in gods name do they pay blithering idiots to write such unadulterated tripe?

and the kicker is -- even though he's been registered since1997 --he's never actually voted! (according to the Chicago Sun-Times.)

No early weekend for DoD employees. Furloughs need at least a 30-day notice, so we probably won't get our pay cuts, I mean furloughs, until April. Then it's 1-day-a-week.

...Former convicted burglar and armed robber appears to have won Republican nomination in Illinois...

As opposed to the 'un armed robbers' that currently sit in the Republican caucus

    He'll fit right in
they'll help him refine his methodology

What Timewalker said, thanks to our UNIONS! At least someone is looking out for the workers.

The meth state is miserable and the marijuana state is happy. What could possibly account for this?
