February 08, 2013 3:55 PM Technical Problems

By Ryan Cooper

Hi folks, just wanted to pop in while I can and let you know that we all haven’t died, we’ve just been having serious technical problems both with our web server and our back end.

We ask for your patience as we try to get things back up and running.

Would you please read this again and revise? Thank you.

I was aware of possible server problems, although I haven't been getting the Forbidden message lately. I have had the site stop loading after the masthead a bunch of times.

However, I was not aware of any problems with your back end. Perhaps you could describe the exact symptoms you are experiencing with your back end and someone could suggest a possible remedy. I can think of a number of very different back end related problems.

And I just got a "too many connections" notice several times, whatever that means. Is that something to do with the server, or with your back end?

No doubt you're being hacked by the Chinese, just like many other members of the western media have been lately.

Did you find out which one of your IT staff to hold accountable?

Is it Moe, Larry, or Curly, whose head's on the chopping block - or are you folks looking to get rid of all of the stooges?

Not that I'm for firing people in these hard times. Maybe reallocate your resources by bringing in some IT people who know what they're doing, and let the existing crew take care of lawn maintenance, or cleaning up the washrooms.

You have a great site, with some absolutely terrific writers -but your IT people suck, since the site's had nothing but problems since around Christmas.

It's frustrating enough with CRAPTCHA being virtually unreadable, and occasionally "losing" comments, it's doubly so when you can't even get to read the writers, because the site doesn't come up.
