With the assistance of DayQuil, managed to get through the day without breaking down and crawling under the covers. Here are some final items of a relatively busy day:
* Pentagon announces 2-week delay in mass furloughs of civilian employees until such time as it can explore the options provided in the just-enacted continuing resolution. CR also requires cancellation of postal service plan to end Saturday delivery.
* Q-Pac survey shows HRC stomping Jeb Bush (51-40) and Marco Rubio (52-41) in 2016 test heats in Florida.
* The title of Krugman’s post on the Cyprus crisis says it all: “The Sum of All FUBAR.”
* At Ten Miles Square, Erik Voeten discusses European Court of Justice case involving gay asylum-seekers which asks: how do you know if someone is gay?
* At College Guide, Keith Humphreys reports an academic publisher is about to let schools buy the individual chapters they actually need in big, omnibus books.
And in non-political news:
* Late turnover spoils Davidson’s bid for first NCAA Tourney upset against Marquette.
To close the day, here again is a jolt from Gil Scott-Heron (with the Last Poets) performing “New York, New York” in 1970. (Warning: non-family friendly, but real, language!).
Selah.

Ed,
For your cold or upper respiratory problem (you had mentioned bronchitis is going around) I strongly recommend greasing up your neck and chest with Vick's vapor rub or even Ben Gay. Put on a turtleneck on or wrap a towel around your neck and sleep until you cannot sleep any longer.
I swear it is a miracle cure.

Anyone who hasn't read her yet should see Sally Kohn at Fox News:

It's like reading an entire lifted WaMo article.
Send it to your conservative friends. "See? even Fox thinks the GOP has its head up its bung!"
