Lotta froth in the news this morning. A quick and surprising papal election would sure make a lot of news folk happy.
Here are some mid-day bites:
* Bolling renounces any intention to run as indie for Virginia Governor this year. Very good news for Ken Cuccinelli.
* Limbaugh siding with Rand Paul against his neocon critics.
* Salon reports Koch brothers may be in the market to buy the parent company of the L.A. Times, the Chicago Tribune, and the Baltimore Sun.
* TNR’s Nate Cohn not real bullish on Ashley Judd’s chances in Kentucky.
* TAP’s Paul Waldman assesses latest state of Paul Ryan’s ambitions.
And in non-political news:
* CBS sporting a Vatican Smoke Cam as papal election conclave gets formally underway.
Back after a food break of my own.

Great, Koch's taking a page from Murdoch's playbook. Now they can just directly hire their favorite pols when they retire--who needs SuperPAC's.

because corporatist consolidation and control of our "news" media, and thus our polity's perceptions of the economy, legal and social systems, the environment, and the world at large, isn't strong or total enough yet, nor far enough divorced from reality.
And meanwhile, Gore has sold his stake in a media venture to Al-Jazeera, and the NYT is looking to divest of the Boston Globe.
Is there truly not one single wealthy liberal left who gives a sh!t what happens to our country?
Or is it true that when they get that wealthy, they can no longer be liberals?

Who knew the St. Louis Cardinals got to pick the next Pope ?

Nate Cohn seems to be making the argument that Ms. Judd shouldn't run because conservative Dems haven't won in the recent past. Even if we hypothesize this is an iron rule, why continue to run GOP-lite candidates that never win and cement the image of Dems as milquetoast wannabes? At the vary least the state could have a real debate for a change, and it just might be that, when given an ernest expression of liberalism instead of a just-liberal-enough, transparently calculating annelid, they might decide thy've had enough of the McConnell magic.

Soon some old fart (possibly a pedophile) that almost no one in the world has heard of, will become one of the most famous people in the world,,,

Democrats suck. We get an attractive, well-spoken, youthful, liberal, woman candidate to step up and run against one of the architects of Republican Senate obstructionism and what do we do? Well, we start poor-mouthing her, that's what.
Why? Because we're Democrats!
