By Ed Kilgore

This is a day when slower news-reactors are writing about the Ryan Budget, and us speed demons are realizing we missed a thing or two. Sic transit media, I suppose.

Here are some mid-day treats:

* Lotta hilarity about an advisory guide on appropriate apparel for CPAC attendees.

* Florida’s Lite Governor, Jennifer Carroll, resigns amidst federal racketeering investigation of company with which she was closely involved. Can you say plea bargain?

* Breitbartians declare war on Politico and Buzzfeed. This could get wild.

* Any day Peggy Noonan is focusing on the papal election is a day when she’s not writing about American politics. Saints be praised!

* Maximum Kabuki: Obama meeting with House Republicans today; anyone expecting a breakthrough clearly believes in miracles and/or conspiracies.

And in non-political news:

* College basketball gearing up for March Madness; now’s the juncture where obscure schools winning one-and-out tournament slots.

Back after a pharmacy run.

I believe in neither, and I'd thought it was already confirmed this was just theatre de absurd.

That said, I'm not expecting any developments until GOP congresscritters are confronted on camera by the mobs of unemployed and starving they've created.

Think I'm exaggerating or that it can't happen?

    Re: the CPAC dress code

What? Were they expecting a drunken entourage of College Republicans to crash it??? I dare say, I wouldn't even expect Sarah Palin to be wearing anything on the "No" list.

The "No" list looked a bit like an Urban Outfitters spread, which we all know is just too hipster for anyone remotely interested in attending CPAC...

Maybe the timing of events has a message for Republicans like Paul Ryan (Catholic) & Rand Paul-- those granny starvers-- with the renewed talk of Catholicism, of what religion taught about caring for the poor while never/ever emphasizing that the rich instead needed special care and treatment even to the imminent, planned demise of the poor.
