As Ryan noted yesterday, Anne Kim has a piece in the March-April issue of the Monthly discussing various ways to revive American manufacturing. It made The Atlantic’s “Five Best Monday Columns” list this week. And it’s getting some serious attention, as in this mixed reaction from Slate’s Matt Yglesias:
Here’s a video of Paul Glastris discussing the article, and one of its more provocative suggestions about how to encourage “insourcing.”

Ed,
I tried to get you interested in telling the story of how Cisco's CEO John Chambers has declared his company won't acquire any companies in the U.S. unless he gets a tax break on repatriated profits. This after his company only pays around 9% in taxes per year.
(an email sent to you about 2 months ago for a story idea)
It's positions such as Chambers' that are driving jobs out of the U.S.
So while you highlight worthy ideas such as Kim's you might do some reporting on destructive positions such as Chambers'.
