It’s the 68th anniversary of V-E Day, so here’s Spike Jones & His City Slickers performing “Right in Der Fuhrer’s Face,” which I remember my father singing back in the day.

I once had a couple of albums of his that I loved, but they got lost in some move or another, or some friend or girlfriend borrowed them, years ago, and never returned them.

And while there's no argument that the Nazi's were one of the, if not THE, greatest embodiments of evil humanity has ever produced, ya gotta admit - they sure had style.

What a terrible time that was for the old Germany.

On this date 4 years ago a journalist advocated moving forward and forgetting that some in the U.S. government used some of those tactics.

We should recall history every once in awhile so we do not have to repeat it.

    Ever read Harry Turtledove?
In his wwII series when the lizards come down he warps this song,
    When the Fleet lord says
we'll bomb dis place from space
    We hiss hiss
right in the fleet lords face!

Whose is the most famed non-comical rendition of "Der Fuhrer's Face"? I only recall Spike Jones, plus a Daffy Duck cartoon.

Worth noting that when Spike and the gang released this wonderfully subversive record, it was early 1942, and we were a long way from winning the war.....
