Sorry for the slow posting this morning, but had a bit of a crisis when I learned my Twitter account had been hacked, sending out DMs with links to a pitch for some weight-loss product (grateful it wasn’t one of the “male products” frequently promoted by email and social media hackers). I think it’s all fixed and secure now, but it did screw up my day.

Here are some crunchy mid-day news and views items:

* Rand Paul’s Big Day even bigger than I thought: he gets op-ed into Washington Times repeating demand that Hillary Clinton be “held accountable” for Benghazi!, which, for good measure, he compares to Mogadishu.

* House Republicans anonymously complain that John Boehner’s been AWOL in recent legislative fights.

* Interesting brief history of abortion smears aimed at women running for office.

* TAP’s Abby Rapoport argues Jindal’s voucher defeat just one of many setbacks for private-school subsidy movement.

* Peggy Noonan enfolds Benghazi! “whistleblower” Gregory Hicks in her clammy embrace.

And in non-political news:

* Deborah Turness reportedly in line to become president of NBC, making her first woman to head up U.S. broadcast network.

Back after racing through several chores.

"Peggy Noonan enfolds Benghazi! 'whistleblower' Gregory Hicks in her clammy embrace."

The real "Inconvenient Truth" for Looney Noonan is that:

    * General Petraeus signed-off on the talking points that Susan Rice stated

    * Gregory Hicks was over 600 miles away and got EVERYTHING wrong

    * The job of the Marine "special operations team" was to guard the embassy in Tripoli, they could not have arrived in Benghazi in time, not to mention what if Benghazi had been a ploy to draw forces away from Tripoli and attack the embassy ?

    * Fighter planes were between 5 hours and 20 hours away depending upon which military expert you listen to

    * There's no THERE there, but of course there's never been any THERE there in Looney Noonan's mind either.

Rand Paul: let's first hold all the principals in the Bush-Cheney administration accountable for the invasion of Iraq, the mismanagement of the reconstruction in Iraq, and for failing to get us out of Afghanistan in a timely fashion. And let's revisit the issue of whether Condi Rice and George Bush should have done something preventative after getting the briefing about the possibility of terrorists crashing airplanes in the US. Then we can try to hold all the deficit hawks in Congress accountable who were around to vote for the Bush tax cuts which threw the balanced budget he inherited from Bill Clinton out the window. After that, we can worry about Benghazi.

Thanks for posting the Three Friends video. Until seeing it, I had no idea that core members of Gentle Giant had formed their own tribute band!
