A short post by Emma Roller at Slate this morning displays the default message that Republicans may well fall back on given their signal inability to identify (or agree on) a positive policy agenda for the country. She notes a new NRSC ad with this rather defensive assertion:
“It may not seem like it, but we say yes a lot. We say yes on jobs for you. On opportunity. We say yes on the future. It’s what we do to make things better.”
Here’s the ad:
I don’t know that the sight of Mitch McConnell mumbling about an “opportunity society” to an upbeat if retro musical score is really going to resonate much with the young and minority folk depicted throughout the ad in images alternating with those of Republican pols. But it may perhaps make “base” voters feel better about themselves. They aren’t nay-sayers! They are yea-sayers to No! Amazing.
