I’ve been perusing the responses to the reader survey we’ve been promoting this week, and have noticed several people expressing the concern that PA is posting too many music videos at the expense of substantive content.
Since I am 100% responsible for posting music videos here, I’d like to assure readers that there is just as much written content here as there ever has been (yea, even in the Benen Administration). With the exception of the Daylight Video feature, which I’ll admit is a device to give myself time to catch up with the news before posting (given my PDT location), any music videos are used to supplement or illustrate written content, or just generally lighten things up and entertain readers. I am aware that some, perhaps a lot, of readers don’t care for all of them or for any of them, but unless it causes site utility issues (which I suppose it might on mobile devices), I’m not sure why they should interfere with anyone’s enjoyment of PA.
Sure, my eccentric musical taste may not be universally shared, but that’s how it goes, and I do try to mix things up. But if this is something that is really annoying people, I can obviously stop or just do less of it. I do, however, want to make it clear no one’s being cheated of words when they go to PA and find themselves staring at a box with an old hippie video nestled amidst the politics.
