As I’ve indicated earlier, my experience of the government shutdown saga has been affected by the fact that I’m with family members who pretty much keep MSNBC on in the background all day. It’s been fun to see old buds on the tube trying to add their bits of wisdom. But then we also have to hear Chris Matthews’ latest book (Tip and the Gipper: When Politics Worked) being hyped constantly, which means constant hooks from Matthews and other MSNBC personalities implying that we wouldn’t be in this mess if we had pols like Tip ‘n’ Gipper running things today.

This anachronistic bull bugs me no end, so I laughed and laughed when I saw this tweet from MoJo’s Tim Murphy:

What about a CR that only included things Tip and the Gipper talked about over drinks?

Yeah, that would be the ticket.
