Some people are entitled to complain that President Obama culpably misled them about the effect of the Affordable Care Act on existing individual health insurance policies.
This man is not among them:
Republican Mitt Romney is accusing President Barack Obama of being “dishonest” about his health care law.
Romney says Obama knew people would lose their private insurance coverage under the law. He criticizes Obama for promising that people could keep their existing plans if they wished.
In an interview on “CBS This Morning,” Friday, Romney said several times that Obama had been “dishonest.” He says, quote, “What starts twisted, stays twisted.”
Well, he should know.
Aside from the “533 lies he told in 30 weeks” that Brother Benen documented during the 2012 presidential campaign, there was the continuing Big Lie that Romney’s Massachusetts health plan was somehow entirely different from the Affordable Care Act. Now he’s trying to favorably compare his initiative to Obama’s. But he’s right about one thing: “What starts twisted, stays twisted.” That was to an incredible extent true of both of Romney’s presidential bids.
