November 05, 2013 7:59 PM Early Virginia Returns

By Ed Kilgore

With polls closed for nearly an hour, we only have strong hints of the results from VA.

The “early exit poll results,” which are often at least misleading, showed McAuliffe up 50/43.

More tangibly, raw votes from one bellwether county, Henrico (in the Richmond suburbs), in which nearly all the vote is in, show McAuliffe leading where Obama won in 2012 but McDonnell won in 2009. GOP Attorney General candidate Mark Obenshain is narrowly leading in Henrico, while Lt. Gov. candidate E.W. Jackson is losing badly there.

Beware over-interpretation.
