November 20, 2013 10:53 AM Split Double-Header

By Ed Kilgore

Yesterday was the equivalent of a split double-header for reproductive rights. The Supreme Court somewhat mysteriously refused to overturn a Court of Appeals order allowing Texas’ new draconian abortion law to take effect; we’ll have more about that here later today. But in Albuquerque, a bid to make that city the first to enact municipal abortion restrictions (the post-20-weeks ban making the rounds in Republican-controlled state legislatures) via ballot initiative failed by a healthy ten-point margin.
