I’m about to head to the airport for a flight to Atlanta via Phoenix (from which I will do the Day’s End post), and can only wish internet services were provided on the two hour flight (as they are on the longer leg to Atlanta). That’s how far we’ve come in a relatively short time from the convention of blogging strictly in one’s basement, in one’s underwear, so to speak.

If you’re impressed that blogging did not, after all, die a quick death as so many people predicted, you can support the institution with a tax-deductible donation, and keep the beast alive.

Here are some midday news/views bite-sized servings:

* Politico’s Mike Allen wins the coveted number one spot in Alex Pareene’s annual “Hack List.”

* TNR’s Alec MacGillis examines the Graham/Ayotte pandering to the military in their criticisms of the Murray-Ryan budget deal.

* Glenn Beck annoints Ted Cruz as “our Ronald Reagan.”

* As part of his pre-Olympics p.r. offensive, Vladimir Putin frees two jailed members of Pussy Riot despite behavior “that has degraded the image of women.” Thanks, Daddy Bear.

* New Mexico Supreme Court declares state ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional. You’re losing, Pope Erick.

And in non-political news:

* Big hack of credit card purchases at Target revealed. Looks like I will have to replace my Visa card for the third time this year.

As we break for lunch and the cab ride to the airport: Since we are belatedly acknowledging Keith Richards’ 70th birthday, here he is performing his own song about his troubles with the law, “Before They Make Me Run,” with the New Barbarians in 1979.
