Seems like just yesterday when some of us were kvetching about former Obama campaign manager Jim Messina following the pound to Britain to advise the Conservative Party. Now it seems he’s being implored to become a Democratic Senator from Montana, succeeding his old boss Max Baucus, who’s been nominated to serve as U.S. Ambassador to China.
The idea, it seems, is that Messina would serve as a temporary senator who would give way to Democratic Lieutenant Governor John Walsh in the 2014 contest for a full term. But according to some “sources,” Messina might be considered for the real gig, what with his many contacts and presumed fundraising chops.
Ah, the good life of the high-flying consultant: hanging with the Tories one day, serving in the U.S. Senate in the next. I’m guessing “U.S. Senator” on the resume might be worth a seven-figure bump in Messina’s future international contracts.
