Pretty grim Walking Dead last night, eh? They did get it right that pecans and peaches grow in that part of Georgia, though.

Here are some remains of the day:

* Obama and EU announce sanctions against individuals in Russia responsible for “undermining Ukraine’s sovereignty. One target called it an honor.

* TNR’s Jason Zengerle looks at the Rand Paul/Ted Cruz rivalry, and notes Paul is more heterodox on policy but Cruz wins the prize for extremist behavior.

* At The Atlantic, Michael Hirsh suggests HRC’s “bad cop” role as Secretary of State is making it easier for her to keep some distance from the administration today.

* At Ten Miles Square, Keith Humphreys discusses the anxiety in substance abuse treatment circles over the release of a new hydrocordone-based painkiller, Zohydro.

* At College Guide, Anya Kamenetz discusses the million-dollar “Global Teacher Prize” being offered by for-profit school entrepreneur Sunny Varkey.

And in non-political news:

* New research findings support Big Bang Theory! And I don’t mean the great sit-com.

Let’s close St. Patrick’s Day with a tune from my favorite Irish band, Horslips, performing “Everything Will Be All Right.”
