May 17, 2014 8:42 AM Weekend Blogger Party!

By Ed Kilgore

As you probably know, one of our esteemed regular Weekend Bloggers, Kathleen Geier, decided to focus on her rapidly increasing writing opportunities. Instead of just bringing in whoever knocked on the door next, we put out a solicitation for people with the time, talent and interest (and willingness to work for exposure and the love of blogging, given the token pay we offer for this duty) to take this on. We got quite a few responses, and decided to cut the field down to those with actual blogging experience. It’s hard enough to adjust to news-cycle blogging without having adjust to the medium itself.

Anyway, before figuring out exactly what to do (we may retain one replacement for Kathleen, or may go back to a rotation), we figured we’d give our four applicants a chance to strut their stuff here with a post a day. None of them have agreed to do this in the future; it’s as much an experiment for them as it is for us.

Some of you will probably recognize David Atkins from his work at Hullabaloo alongside Digby. Lisa Solod lives in Savannah, Georgia, is the author of Desire: Women Write About Wanting, and blogs at middleagedfeminist.com. Chad Stanton is Texas-based, and blogs at veryveryurban. And D.R. Tucker is Massachusetts-based, and has written at Huffpost and a number of environmental sites, along with co-hosting a Progressive Radio Network show.

At this point I’ll get out of the way and let you hear their voices. A reminder: this ain’t American Idol, and we aren’t asking you to rate these folks. If you go to the comments thread, react to them just as you would any other PA blogger, okay?

So let’s get the party on….
