May 07, 2014 4:36 PM Weekend Blogging Opportunity

By Ed Kilgore

As you may have read or heard, our regular co-Weekend-Blogger, Kathleen Geier, has moved on to other writing opportunities inconsistent with regular Saturday or Sunday duty, but as she said during her farewell cruise, she doesn’t regret the PA gig (despite its terrible pay!) for a moment:

[Y]es, I will be giving up the blogging, because I’m far busier these days. But I really did love blogging for the Political Animal. It is through my work here that I finally figured out what I enjoy doing most, which is writing. There’s no sense in trying to get away from it any more: this is what I am meant to do, and I’ll keep doing it so long as I can scratch out a living from it, however precarious that living may be. As a friend said to me the other day, “You’re like a car thief who can’t stop stealing cars!” Indeed.
There’s no way I can thank Ed and Paul enough for granting me this opportunity.

She’s more than welcome, and I’m going to miss her here at PA. Martin will still be blogging every other weekend for the foreseeable future, and we have already received some expressions of interest from well-qualified writers interested in trying it out. But we also want to broaden the pool (particularly for women and minority writers) if we can. So pass it on: anyone interested in being considered for Weekend Blogging duty should contact us at wamowebjobs@gmail.com, preferably with some background info and writing samples attached.

In addition to the token pay and the considerable exposure, weekend bloggers can have the satisfaction of knowing they are helping me maintain my sanity. Thanks in advance for that!
