August 12, 2014 2:29 PM BuzzFeed Trades Up

By Ed Kilgore

Those of you who follow the political media beat will be interested to learn that BuzzFeed has hired Adam Serwer as a national editor assigned to “stories that matter to our country.”

I don’t know there’s any connection between this hiring and the recent firing of “Buzzfeed Benny” Johnson for plagiarism. But certainly the organization is helping offset its click-a-riffic reputation by bringing on the much-esteemed Serwer, whom many of you probably know from his stints at the American Prospect, Mother Jones, and most recently MSNBC.

Glad to see they are trading up.

UPDATE: Seems BuzzFeed has deleted an awful lot of old posts. Maybe 4,000 of them. Don’t know if it has to do with the plagiarism charges, but wow, that’s quite a purge.
