Political Animal
Blog
Well, as Dick Cheney would say, it’s time to go, and after 34 posts, I’m not waiting til New Year’s Eve to have a sip of something cold and fermented.
Thanks to Paul for inviting me here; thanks to Steve for turning over the keys; and thanks to the rest of the Monthly crew for keeping my feet more or less on the path of righteousness.
Most of all, thank to those faithful Political Animal readers who ignored their holiday presents and bowl games and New Year’s Resolution drafting to hang in there with me and drink the bitter dregs of 2011. Happy New Year to all.

Only 34 posts?! Lightweight! Benen puts up 34 posts before I've had my first cup of coffee in the morning!
Kidding of course -- very much enjoyed your guest tenure. On to Victory in 2012!

Ed,
As I said earlier, thank you very much for an enjoyable time!
As an unemployed person with not much else to do when I'm not applying for jobs for 30 out of the last 37 months except watch some Yankees, some NY Giants, and read novels, I live for politics.
You were truly wonderful, and I'll look forward to reading you in the future.
I hate giving grades, but I'd give you an A.
Sorry, but Steve's an A+. Maybe because familiarity hasn't yet bred contempt. But, I'm afraid that may soon change, and we won't have to worry about familiarity here any more.
Have some Chateau Bayonne, vintage November 2011, on me!
Happy New Year!
PS: You didn't do shit about CRAPPY while Steve was gone.
If you had, you would have been treated like the Americans in Paris in WWII! :-)

Thanks, Ed.
Happy new year.

Great job! Happy new year.
Also, just FYI: the Dick Cheney 2000 convention speech you refer to was quoting Al Gore's 1992 convention speech which first featured the refrain "It's time for them to go."
jackmac on December 30, 2011 6:25 PM:
Great job! I enjoyed reading your posts and hope you come back again.
Daniel Buck on December 30, 2011 6:36 PM:
Ed,
Splendiferous posts. Come back soon.
Dan
PS Don't forget to top off the evening with a stiff shot of Fernet Branca.

Thanks Ed! That was one excellent sub job, and I won't, in the future, be afraid of Steve's taking a day-or-so off, if he can secure you again as the substitute. And, perhaps, the next time you sub, you can use your keys to permanently disable Craptcha?
Have a mellow end-of-year weekend, and a very happy New Year too.
"effect. rForme" I'd prefer it gone altogether; reformed version might not have the same effect for me.

Not a great start as a sub. But passion is a powerful force and your posts got increasingly better, whether you adjusted to the PA crowd or just "found purpose". In either case, thanks for your insights. I, for one, will be looking for more of you at TNR and elsewhere. Happy New Year.
