More Grim Polls: Oh, damn you, Pew. Your latest poll is really botching up my evening. I don't march into your room and tell you that you're a jerk, so don't march into mine and tell me that all the races across the country have narrowed considerably in favor of the GOP. And, above all, don't tell me this:

"Fully 84% of voters say they have heard a lot or a little about Kerry's remarks with 60% saying they have heard a lot. By comparison, just 26% say they have heard a lot about President Bush's statement that he will keep Donald Rumsfeld as secretary of defense until he leaves office in 2009."

Great. Hats off, first of all, to CNN and MSNBC, for their unflinching coverage of Kerry's misstatement. And hats off to 74% of the voters. Rumsfeld, shmumsfeld.

(Not to question the electorate's collective wisdom, of course.)

People who spend a lot of time, or any time for that matter, worrying about polls are simply foolish. Ask President Alf Landon, President Thomas Dewey and President John Kerry about polls.

Kerry seems to be congenitally icapable knowing when to STFU.

Thanks, so-called liberal media! Way to cover the non-issue. Not even the GOP hacks pushing the talking points believed them, but you covered it for two breathless days, you spineless phonies.
