Florida has some new road signs. The Florida Department of Transportation, which farms the manufacturing of its interstate signs out to a (sadly unnamed) sign manufacturer in Arkansas, was a little embarrassed when someone discovered what they looked like. Observe:
That’s “Flordia,” twice. The Arkansas company is apparently fixing the misspellings at no cost to the state.
Many commentators suggests this is what happens when you outsource government functions out-of-state. “Here’s a serious question - why are we outsourcing the sign-making to another state?” wrote one angry Florida resident. “Don’t we have sign makers here in Florida? My goodness!”
Well I’m sure it doesn’t help that the thing was created by a company in Arkansas, but come on, it’s not like the sign maker was trying to write in Arabic. People in Arkansas know how to spell Florida.
